Safeway Retail Store 1614

SAFEWAY RETAIL STORE 1614

Denver, Colorado

Due to the site limitations and location in a historic residential neighborhood, this new store is unique in design. The exterior of the building is brick and contains intricate brick detailing to blend into the architecture of the residential neighborhood. Also unique to this store and as a result of the severely restrictive site limitations, this new store has a basement that is used for storage, the processing of incoming goods, and houses the employee lounge. Elevators and conveyors are used to move goods and people from the basement to the first floor. The first floor was designed for the display and sale of grocery items available to the public and a loading dock to the south of the building for receiving goods. Based on predetermined design concepts, WSA developed construction documents and administered construction of this technically complicated project.
